Today we have a poem from Bill Friday, which I will let speak for itself. Say hey so we know you stopped by, and then mosey over to his place to treat yourself to some more words: BillFriday.com

Love Unwitting
Your words
once meant more to me
than my next breath
until they didn’t
So well you did
making that happen
through silence and invisibility
entered into
I assumed
for your own preservation
that you have seen
to mine as well
Till now that I
instead of hating you
thank you
For what I once endured
as a sign of your contempt
I now accept as
a last act of
love unwitting
From which I emerge
knowing
that for both
far better and
a little worse
I will never be the same

lovely, beautiful, honest – those are the words that came to my mind after reading this poem. What sticks the most for me, “I will never be the same.” It’s so true, isn’t it? Whether it’s for the better or for the worse, loving a person and then not loving that person anymore, it changes us.

There’s a kind of beautiful tragedy in these words. Thank you for sharing them here.

This was written by Bill Friday, actually… I was just the post-host today. 🙂 But yes, it’s brilliantly beautiful, I think! 😀

I forgot to wish you Happy Birthday? Which day was it? Are you a Leo or a Virgo?

Thank you, Noelle. 🙂 August 27th was the day, which makes me a Virgo. I turned 31!

I love this poem. It speaks to me of transformation.

~To me, this poem is about a last and final act that
changes everything, surprisingly for the better, and ironically with the
power of having not done anything.
“..I emerge
knowing
that for both
far better and
a little worse
I will never be the same.”
Peace, Ka
